Edvard Bene%C5%A1

Edvard Bene May 1884 September 1948 was a Czech politician who served as the President of Czechoslovakia twice, from 19351938 and 19391948. He was also Minister of Foreign Affairs , Prime Minister of Czechoslovakia and the President of Czechoslovakia in exile . A member of the Czechoslovak National Social Party, he was known as a skilled diplomat.

Edvard Bene was born into a peasant family in the small town of Kolany, Bohemia, in the Empire of AustriaHungary, onMay 1884. His brother was the Czechoslovak politician Vojta Bene. His nephew Bohu Bene, a diplomat and son of his brother Vclav, was the father of Emilie Benes Brzezinski and Vclav E. Bene, a CzechAmerican mathematician.
